I used to spend hours at my mentor’s house after school, still in my uniform, going through his records.
AJ the Black Saint taught me to mix on vinyl and read a crowd. More than anything, he taught me to pay attention to the person on the other side of the speakers.
That is where my life as a DJ began. Radio took me from Zimbabwe to Malawi and South Africa, working on air and behind the scenes in programming, presenter training and station management.
Today, I’m still playing music and hosting. I also teach through Radio Academy Africa and speak about mental wellness, drawing on my own experience of depression and recovery. These are the different parts of my life that I share here.

AJ the Black Saint introduces Tony to vinyl mixing and the art of reading a crowd.
Tony records a single titled Friday, and the name becomes his identity behind the decks.
He studies Communications and Journalism, opening the door from DJing into broadcasting.
His radio career expands beyond Zimbabwe with Power 101 FM in Malawi.
Tony helps launch regional stations in Gweru and Masvingo, preparing both premises and teams.
He establishes Nani Wellness, shaped by his lived experience of depression and recovery.
Tony establishes the academy to train new talent in radio presenting, mix DJing and voice acting.
The documentary brings together the music, broadcasting, fatherhood, loss and recovery behind the public voice.

My first lessons were in vinyl, mixing and reading a crowd. That still shapes how I play: paying attention to the room, choosing the next record and knowing when to let a song breathe.
